How Much Does a Destination Wedding in Greece Cost? A Planner’s Honest Answer

Couples planning a destination wedding in Greece from abroad often find plenty of beautiful images, but very little practical information about what a wedding here actually costs.

So here is a straightforward answer, based on 21 years of planning and producing celebrations throughout Greece.

A premium single-day destination wedding in Greece typically begins at around €70,000. For a multi-day celebration, with two or three events taking place across a weekend, our couples typically invest around €100,000–€150,000 overall.

Of course, every wedding is different. The final investment is shaped mainly by four things: your destination, guest count, design, and the number of events you are planning.

What is included in a destination wedding budget in Greece?

Your overall wedding investment goes far beyond the table decoration and flowers. It may include the venue, food and beverages, entertainment, photography and videography, florals and decoration, lighting and production, transportation, stationery, guest experiences, and professional planning.

Behind all of this is the work required to bring those elements together: coordinating suppliers, managing timelines and logistics, developing the design, and preparing for the unexpected so you can enjoy the celebration itself.

Does the destination affect the cost?

Very much so.

Greece offers very different settings, from the Athens Riviera and well-known islands such as Mykonos, Santorini, Paros, and Crete to the Peloponnese and less expected mainland destinations.

One couple we worked with wanted an intimate wedding for around 50 guests, nearly three hours outside Athens, in the groom’s hometown. Because the guest count was relatively small, they naturally expected the overall cost to be lower.

What they had not initially considered were the additional logistics: transportation for vendors travelling from Athens, overnight accommodation for those who could not return after the evening event, and a venue rental fee because the guest count was below the venue’s required minimum.

Together, those factors added roughly 15% to the production budget compared with an Athens Riviera wedding of a similar size.

This is why the destination matters so much. A smaller wedding is not always a lower-cost wedding, particularly when the location requires additional travel, accommodation, transport, or production support.

Choosing the right destination is therefore not only about finding a beautiful setting. It should also work for your guest experience, the events you want to create, and the investment you are comfortable making.

How does guest count affect the wedding budget?

Guest count has the clearest impact on food and beverages because catering is generally calculated per person.

However, reducing the guest list does not reduce every part of the budget proportionally. Venue hire, music, photography, entertainment, lighting, and many design and production costs remain similar whether you are hosting 60 guests or 120.

This is why two weddings with very different guest counts can sometimes have surprisingly similar overall investments.

What does a multi-day wedding in Greece usually include?

More couples are choosing to make their destination wedding a full experience rather than a single evening.

A weekend may begin with a welcome dinner or cocktail party, continue with the wedding day, and finish with a relaxed beach or pool celebration. Some couples also include experiences such as a boat trip or cultural visit for their guests.

The purpose is not simply to add more events. It is to give everyone who has travelled to Greece more time together.

After all, your guests have travelled a long way to be there. A thoughtfully planned weekend allows them to leave feeling that the journey was truly worth it.

There is no single figure that applies to every destination wedding in Greece. The right budget depends on where you celebrate, how many people you invite, the experience you want to create, and what matters most to you.

If you are planning a destination wedding in Greece and would like a clearer understanding of what your own celebration may involve, we would be happy to hear your story.
